I am ecstatic to be able to share
this marvelous work with all of you. It is a long load on a
modem, but worth the wait.
This astounding, original work (actual size about 3-1/2 x 5
inches) was executed by Olwyn Scott, Australia. Olwyn writes:
"My Pigmy Possum was worked in DMC cordonnet special No.
150 and 100 om ecru/natural. There is a small area of DMC broder
(embroidery) machine thread, also in ecru, underneath the flower.
Foundation cord was probably 80 DMC crochet cotton using double
buttonhole. No wire or stiffening (was used).
"This piece won the Austrealian Lace Guild's Lace Awards
in 1989 and was exhibited at the Biennale del Merletto in Sansepolcro,
Italy, in 1992."
Heritage Shoppe asks that you please not reproduce these images
in any form, other than to print the page for your viewing off
line. No other reproduction or use is permitted. Olwyn Scott
graciously allowed me to post these pictures so that those who
admire fine embroideries would have a chance to see them in detail,
and hopefully encourage you to follow your pursuits in needlework.
This is a perfect example to show you compensation, how to incorporate
needlelace in non-traditional ways, how to achieve texture with
different patterns, how to set up areas of the design for attaching
the needlelace.
